Linda Edna Cardellini was born in Redwood City, California, to Lorraine (Hernan) and Wayne David Cardellini who is a businessman. Her heritage is Italian via her father's grandfather. She began her interest in acting as a ten year old, after she was a singer in the school's Christmas show. Her school productions included plays and local community theatre. Lily James is a stage name for Lily Chloe Ninette Thomson, an English actress who was born on the 5th of April, 1989. She trained as an actor at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and made her debut with the British television series Just William (2010). Her breakthrough came in 2015 when she was cast in the leading role in Cinderella, a fantasy film. Her previous roles included the role of Lady Rose MacClare as part of the period series Downton Abbey. James then played Countess Natasha Rostova on the TV adaptation of War & Peace in 2016.
